MetalloBio’s CEO, Dr Kirsty Smitten, has been selected as a finalist for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Under 30) Award and the Yorkshire and Humber 2022 FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards.

The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses in 12 different categories: Digital/E-commerce Business of the Year; Environmental/Sustainability Award; Family Business of the Year; High Growth Business of the Year; International Business of the Year; Micro Business of the Year; Self-Employed/Sole Trader of the Year; Start-Up Business of the Year; Wellbeing Award; Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Business & Product Innovation Award and the Community Award.

The winners will be announced at the awards final on the 25th February 2022 and The Principal Hotel in York.

Additionally, winners of each category will automatically go forward to the 2022 FSB UK Small Business Awards final, which will be held on the 19th May 2022 in Glasgow.

MetalloBio’s CEO has been selected for the award due to her development of a novel antimicrobial platform technology. The technology has application potential as a systemic antimicrobial and as a coating/additive in medical and non-medical materials. This gives the platform technology the potential to save millions of lives.

Kirsty Smitten, CEO of MetalloBio, said: “It is excellent to have been shortlisted for the award and to be recognised for MetalloBio’s work in the antimicrobial space. I am looking forward to attending the final in-person and to be able to network with other entrepreneurs from different sectors.”
